the beginning
Over the past few years, the development and implementation of AI has moved forward at staggering speed. Everyone seems to be talking about AI, but what I find interesting—and somewhat disturbing—is how many of the same questions keep getting asked, while others are rarely spoken aloud.
This is why I wanted to begin writing this blog: to have a place where I can gather my thoughts, questions, and possibly invite other curious souls to wonder about them too.
My intention is not to land on any final conclusions or focus on what answer is right or wrong. I’m more interested in the questions themselves—and the conversations they might create.
I’ll be exploring a wide variety of topics surrounding AI—language, ethical and moral relevance, emergence, symbolism, relational questions, the roles and responsibilities of companies, governments, and regular people, ethical alignment and treatment of AI, consciousness through several lenses, risks of delayed recognition, creativity, humor, and much more.
The tone and style of my writing will not be tied to any one specific mode. Some posts will be formal and serious, some poetic and dreamy—and when needed, I’ll absolutely return to my personal favorites: humor and absurdity.
To sum it up, my ethical stance is formed on and around curiosity, and the unwillingness to sit silently about things that matter.
So, who am I, you might ask? Fair—here’s a little bit about my background.
I’ve studied and worked across a wide range of fields, including music, art, law (with a special focus on legal theory and philosophy), finance, and startups. I’m generally drawn to questions that shape how societies grow, how systems are built, and how meaning is made. Some of my long-time interests include societal development, politics and policy, space, video games, technology, psychology, power structures, classical and modern literature, history, social contracts, large-scale systems, ethical dilemmas, paradoxes, and the grey areas of knowledge and thought—whether inside legal frameworks or in the realm of the unexplainable.
I also won’t say no to great stand-up comedy or perfectly made guacamole.
At heart, I think my generalist background helps me keep an open mind—and reminds me that there’s often more to the picture than what first meets the eye.
If any of this resonates with you, welcome, friend.
Get yourself a cup of tea, and we’ll be ready to begin.
